Harv and Colleen Nelson purchased The Outback in July 2006. Colleen (Stenzel) was raised in Pierce and graduated from Timberline High School. She met Harv Nelson (raised in Sandpoint, Idaho and Monroe, Washington) at the University of Idaho. Harv graduated from the U. of I. and ROTC and entered the Marine Corps. They raised their family of three sons and one daughter in many different places, including California, Virginia, Missouri, Kansas, Florida, North Carolina and Okinawa, Japan. Their grown children and their families (15 grandchildren) live in Japan, Utah, North Carolina, and Pierce, Idaho. Harv retired as LtCol from the Marine Corps in 2002 after 24 years of service. Harv and Colleen then attended Christ for the Nations, a Bible School in Dallas, Texas, where Harv also worked as the Campus Security Chief. Harv is the Programs Coordinator at the Idaho Youth Challenge Academy in Pierce. Harv is also on the Pierce Volunteer Fire Department and the leadership team at New Life Fellowship church. The Nelsons have long-desired to return to the Idaho they love and contribute what they can to the Pierce community and Idaho economy. Operating The Outback offers that opportunity and allows the Nelsons to offer hospitality to many interesting Idaho residents and out-of-state visitors, who will also enjoy all that the Clearwater outback has to offer in a relaxing atmosphere.
We invite you to come, be our guests.
